Move over Marilyn Monroe. Chanel No. 5 has a new buxom beauty in town. Former Victoria’s Secret model, Gisele Bundchen, is now the new face of the iconic label. The 33-year-old recently confirmed the news on her official Facebook page.
She was chosen for her 'natural beauty and modern femininity,' a Chanel spokesperson recently told The Daily Mail.
Since late last year, Monroe has been the latest celebrity to embrace Chanel No. 5—more than 40 years after her death and decades after stating she wore nothing to bed but the perfume. Before Monroe, Hollywood actor Brad Pitt served as an ambassador for the fragrance.
According Women’s Wear Daily, Bundchen has already begun shooting a video for Chanel’s latest commercial in the Hamptons, New York. Baz Luhrmann, who’s directed such films as Moulin Rouge starring Nicole Kidman, is reportedly behind the project.
Since leaving her angel wings behind, the Brazilian beauty has gone on to work with such designer labels like: Versace, Givenchy and Salvatore Ferragamo. She is currently the face for the popular clothing merchant, H&M.
Forbe’s Magazine has called Bundchen one the most powerful supermodels in the world with a net worth of about $42 million.
Her Chanel commercial is set to air at the end of the year.
Bundchen joins a long list of celebrities who've fronted the No. 5 fragrance including: Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou, Catherine Deneuve and Vanessa Paradis.
The perfume first launched in 1921 and has been considered a worldwide classic ever since.
